Senior Architect / Lead Architect

Bondstones is a specialist Rural Planning and Architectural firm - working for a variety of private clients and landed estates throughout the rural South & South West UK.
Located in Taunton, Somerset, our team is experiencing steady growth and so we are in urgent need of an outstanding Architect / Design professional to join us to lead and grow our design team.
As part of our planned, strategic expansion, this hands-on leadership role will work alongside our Senior Planner and Business Development Team - managing our architectural service delivery and working with us to expand our Architecture & Built-environment services over the next two to three years.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in architectural services, particularly those focused on private clients. Expertise in rural architecture (especially including change of use / conversions, heritage & listed building projects and bespoke domestic projects) is essential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate confidence in quality Architecture and will have the capacity and desire to inspire and develop a great team (in alignment with our regional management objectives and company values).
Requirements / wish list:
- Demonstrable experience in rural projects and architectural services delivery
- Bondstones are especially interested in applications from individuals who are seeking career progression - especially where ambition is being held back by a glass ceiling / "dead men's shoes" - or perhaps through a basic lack of ambition from their current employer.
- The candidate will have proven experience throughout RIBA stages 0 - 7, with a private client-centric professional focus. Our projects always require innovative solutions and so you will need to provide evidence of successful project delivery across a variety of scenarios
- Experience in areas such as estate / farm diversification, bespoke houses, rural business projects, barn conversions, tourism and heritage projects area specific requirement for this role.
- Proficiency with PC based IT is required - Strong familiarity with SketchUp Pro / Studio and AutoCAD is necessary.
- RIBA / ARB (or an equivalent UK professional qualification) is considered essential.
- Candidates from other professional backgrounds (CIAT, RICS) with relevant experience and leadership capabilities are also welcome to apply... Location and Terms:
- This role focuses on projects in the West Country, requiring a full driving licence and regular travel
- Based full-time at Hestercombe House, Taunton, you will become a key member of our regions management team
