Job Title: Senior/Principal Urban Designer
Location: Bristol
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 pa.
Reports To: Head of Urban Design

A national design & planning consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality urban design projects are looking for a Senior/Principal Urban Designer to join their team in Bristol.

The Role:
From large scale urban extensions and strategies for area regeneration to renewable energy and residential schemes, their expert design teams have a thorough understanding of planning policies and know exactly what’s required to make projects a success.
As a Senior/Principal Urban Designer, you will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of urban design projects from concept to completion. Work with a range of stakeholders, including clients, developers, local authorities, and the public, to create high-quality, sustainable, and inclusive urban environments.
Whether you are a Masterplanner, Layout Designer, Architect or Urban Designer we would love to hear from you as we seek to appoint the best suited candidate to work with us on an array of exciting, complex projects stretching across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a strong team of designers and architects and be involved in urban design and planning work, feasibility studies, layout designs, development briefs and design strategies for residential, mixed-use schemes and more.
Your Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing the delivery of urban design projects
- Working with clients, developers, and local authorities to develop and deliver urban design solutions
- Preparing concept, schematic, and detailed urban design plans
- Preparing reports and presentations
- Coordinating with other disciplines, such as architecture, planning, and landscape architecture
- Liaising with the public to gather feedback and ensure that projects meet the needs of the community
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in urban design or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in urban design
- Proven ability to lead and manage projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident liaising with clients, building relationships and understanding client requirements.
- Strong technical skills in CAD and other design software (Experience in Vectorworks and/or Sketchup would be an advantage but not essential)
- Knowledge of the planning system and local authority design guidance
- Self-motivated with an excellent eye for detail.
